Remember that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
(http://www.peta.org)
is one of the best sites for information and education about animal welfare. I've mentioned them before and will again, but the time is near us that we need to focus on the potential that world change can happen for the better rather than the negative.

Right now, the efforts in the medical field to convince people that there are great accomplishments, and that they, the researchers, have a heart and care is escalating. They seem to have invaded the religious communities, talk shows, and just about anywhere that anyone will let them in. It is like an invasion of pests. They should be held accountable and be expected to presents facts, but they are treated like celebrities and their presentations are taken for granted.

Alternative health care and spirituality needs to, at the very least, be in balance and yet the negative and perverse side of science is attempting to push aside humane and civilized approaches to overcoming the ills of the world.

Hold to what you sense is true and look before you leap to donate and support medical research. There are many sites that will show you in graphic detail what is happening. By doing a search for "vivisection" and a few key words you will be able to see for yourself. The truth should be given that reveals the weight of slaughter of other species held captive in relation to the results of such actions.

Some religions are not stepping up to the plate to take responsibility for their own beliefs, but you can. By not donating to groups that torture and maim and kill you are taking action. By not supporting programs that present these researchers and by not buying products that sponser such programs you are taking action. There are many ways to make the world a better place. Let us all focus on a few things we can do and it will collectively have an impact. The process of research on animals is archaic and barbaric. No one needs to be a part of that. Much of their work is hidden and cloaked.

Over the summer I am adding as much information on the Ministry page about ways to work through meditation for the world as possible. Hopefully, this will start in June, but in the meantime, you can start now by be a responsible consumer. A typical compay to avoid is Proctor & Gamble. By not purchasing products made by them will be a tremendous step toward not only stopping unnccessary torture of the innocent, but it will give your home greater peace by not have something born of violence in it.

You don't have to volunteer anywhere, own pets, or become a vegetarian to take powerful steps. Just avoid products from corporations that do UNNECESSARY animal experimentation.
Some of these stories remain on the site after their seeming newsworthy dates because there is no reason to dismiss the lives of those who have suffered so quickly. I do not care to add to the already "disposable" world.

So, stories such as Has, the coyote, while he is gone now, his story remains a testimony.
WHAT’S GOING ON IN CHINA?
Repeatedly and continually, terrible reports keep appearing in the news about the way dogs are treated in China. From the disgusting way they collect large breed dogs such as St. Bernard dogs to abuse and slaughter for gourmet restaurants to the mass slaughter

of lhasa apsos and now this recent report about 50,000 dogs being beaten to death by police because 3 people developed rabies. They went into the town and made noise to cause the dogs to bark so they could raid and kill. Are these people so stupid that they cannot think logically enough to realize that rabies is preventable? The more I read about the many thousands of cases of animals abused the more I question their mentality. There are some citizens there who are loving and humane, but are subjected to an awful government.

Dogs being walked were seized from their owners and beaten to death on the spot, the Shanghai Daily newspaper reported. Led by the county police chief, killing teams entered villages at night creating noise to get dogs barking, and then beat the animals to death, the reports said. Owners were offered 63 cents per animal to kill their own dogs before the teams were sent in.
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) offered $100,000 to the government of China to establish an effective rabies control program in certain southern provinces in the country, conditional upon the government's termination of its mass dog killing programs and its acceptance of assistance to develop a humane and effective rabies control program.
When I read and saw videos of the way dogs are collected and treated for food – not due to starvation, but as a delicacy, I was appalled and repulsed. They don’t even have the humanity to just cage them until death not that is humane either. The horrors are too sickening to describe, but if you want to know, just do a search for “China dog meant” and you will learn all about it.

There are so many products manufactured in China now that I don’t see how we can boycott them all, but where you can, try to purchase American or from another country. I have been working toward that and finding that as I search, little by little, the product list grows with not just items not made there, but better items made elsewhere. The one big thing I find that is effective to slow down buying products from China is to recycle as much as you can. Getting the word out alone means a lot. Corporations are nervous about losing buyers and as cottage businesses pop up the world is becoming a better place.

Trying to appeal to Chinese officials is worthless. They are smug and do not address the issue.

As well, as if keeping large dogs in deplorable conditions only to slaughter them for meat in their “finer” restaurants, they sell on eBay. What will we discover next?

Photos of live animals for sale in China posted by eBay sellers show conditions that one wouldn’t wish on one’s worst enemy, including chaining animals to cages on the streets, keeping puppies in wire-bottomed cages (in the U.S. and other countries, such housing is prohibited by animal welfare laws for humane reasons—wire hurts!), keeping puppies in a rusty, barely lit cage with bone-dry empty bowls, and cramped, extremely crowded conditions. Ask eBay authorities to stop. Get the word out to others about this. I think eBay is big enough to afford not to permit such an atrocity.

Again about products from China: It seems impossible to avoid products from China, but little by little, choices where possible can begin to make a difference. In time, other more humane nations as well as your own home country will be able to be recognized. A few pennies more for a product will generate a remarkably positive energy and your commitment will bring you a sense of wholeness and peace. Their mill of production is based on horrific and inhumane policies while their government simply turns a blind eye to it. While their government is in denial their nation has all eyes upon them. Their attitude toward girl babies is an issue in itself. Those who live in China and are struggling with such horror need our prayers. Recently, about 500 people there protested. Very brave souls.

Martin Sheen objects to Animal Cruelty
perpetrated by the U.S. Department of the Interior

On behalf of PETA, actor Martin Sheen has written a letter to Gale Norton, secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior, imploring her to immediately ban the use of snares and steel-jaw traps in our national parks. He was prompted to send the letter after learning that several dogs—who had most likely been abandoned there—were left to suffer for more than two days in steel-jaw traps set by National Park Service employees at Badlands National Park in Scenic, S.D.

“The pain and agony that these animals must have endured is unthinkable,” writes Sheen. “No animal deserves to suffer what these dogs did: dehydration, near-starvation, bone-deep injuries, and sheer terror—one dog chewed her own foot down to the bone in a frantic effort to escape.”

Sheen goes on to request that Norton adopt more humane methods to deal with dogs, cats, and other “nuisance” animals in national parks around the country that are currently using these traps to capture and kill domestic animals and wildlife.

All but one of the dogs found at Badlands National Park had to be put out of their misery. They suffered from swollen, bloody paws, their teeth had been worn down in the struggle to free themselves, and two dogs suffered from gangrenous skin and exposed bones. The surviving dog’s injuries were so severe that her leg had to be amputated.

The Animal Welfare page has been revised.
Lhasa Apso's being herded to their slaughter by the Chinese in Jinan.
China continues their abuse of dogs and animals in a number of horrendous ways. We are all aware of the way they make products to export.

Something is really wrong there.

I heard recently that the government is slyly working to "clean up" animals before the Olympics. The world should note their behavior and not tolerate it.

There are many other reasons to have avoided the Olympics and many have declared their reasons and did not be participate or watch it.

It is senseless to kill and yet the Chinese government still slaughters.
They have said they will not be serving dog in their restaurants during the Olympics. The world already knows they serve dog as a delicacy. That they serve any meat is not my issue, it is way that they execute extreme torture upon them before their slow and agonizing deaths.

CLASSES
In-person classes are suspended until further notice. However, tele-classes are on-going and everyone is enjoying them. You may sign up to be on the mail list for future classes. These are economical and much more convenient than trying to block large amounts of time to travel back and forth. For the tele-classes, I recommend you have a comfortable place to sit for your classes and maybe a headset, especially for the visualization classes. Remember, too, that I frequently present free guided meditations to de-stress!

All tutoring and tele-classes must be paid for in advance.
ANIMALS
It has been on the national news about animals being abandoned and given up due to economic changes. Isn’t that further reason to promote spay and neuter programs? It is ridiculous in these times for people to continue to breed and it is the ones who are doing it for money that are the ones who have added to the current crisis. Continue to promote an end to backyard breeders and puppy mills and do not tolerate those who are using their pets to make extra money. They will tell you that they love their pets and that they find good homes for them and that is not just a stupid excuse, but criminal. They should sell themselves which would at least be their choice – the pets don’t have a choice. Rescue groups and shelters are overrun and many are being euthanized daily now because they have no place for them. Animals including horses are being thrown out in forests and just everywhere. If you are too delicate to know about it please do not write me with your woes. I have no time to coddle and serve you. Someone recently told me that she just can’t see the stories because it is upsetting. Gee, she should try being the dog or cat that is going through the horror – that might be just a bit more upsetting. That sort of logic is not an expression of love for animals. One does not have to watch the horrors unfolding as most of us already know what is going on, but those who are living in such a cocooned world need to stay out of the way of the rest of us who are busy doing something. It cost nothing to sign a petition and it takes only moments. As well, one may sign most of them anonymously. So, what’s the excuse for not doing that?

Just heard Michael Vick got some sort of courage award from his team. Amazing and ridiculous that so many are so anxious to sweep who he really is under the rug for the sake of not having their good times disturbed or having to take responsibility. Those who maintain such allegiance are as guilty as him.

Journey's End Animal Sanctuary in central Florida still needs support. This is a worthy place. Details and directions upon request.
